The Chazen Foundation was established in 1985 by Jerome Chazen, one of the co-founders and Chairman Emeritus of the fashion company Liz Claiborne.  Jerome and his wife Simona have been actively involved in guiding the foundation since its inception.    The foundation has primarily supported Higher Education, Medicine, the Arts, the Rights of Women, Jewish Philanthropy, and many other social causes.  The foundation is entering its second generation, and the three Chazen Children are actively involved in maintaining the vision into the 21st century.

The Foundation does not consider unsolicited requests for funding and there is no request for proposals issued by the Foundation.
